A special 10" slip-over of white Fyberbest with a contact temperature rating of 1800°F is worn over the mitten. These slip-overs are replaceable when worn - the base mitten will probably never need replacing. A wise choice for people who fire Raku frequently.

Infrared Glasses
It is very important to protect your eyes from heat and infrared radiation. These “wrap-around” glasses will give you complete protection and comfort. They are much more comfortable than welder’s goggles, and have the extra benefit of being much easier to see through. You also get complete 180 degree visibility. The infrared protection is the equivalent of a #2 lens shade. Every potter and ceramic department should not be without this type of eye protection for both gas and electric fired kilns.
