The
Bailey Retrofit Work Centers
What makes the Bailey the best wheel work center?
To begin with, it's much sturdier. It is constructed of heavy wall
pipe with 2-3/8" and 2" diameters. It won't wobble or
flex if bumped or when clay is piled on it. No other design comes
close.
Our pivoting counters are super reinforced with wood and steel.
You'll find a 2" structural angle iron under every 3/4"
thick particle board sub counter which is protected from water by
an ABS plastic counter.
Our stainless steel cup/tool holders are placed forward so you
don't have to overreach for your tools and you have the
flexibility to attach them wherever you want at the edge of the
counter. Also, because the cup holders are forward, you don't
waste valuable counter space which can now be used for more clay,
bats and tools. It's much better use of space. Just another
example of Bailey logic.
Our wareboard shelf brackets have two positions, forward and rear.
The brackets are offset on the collars so you have the option of
placing your wareboard closer or further away. Flexibility and
ergonomics is always part of Bailey design.

With the New
Bailey Retrofit Work Center System,
various counter options can be added to a variety of wheels
like Brent and Shimpo VL Whisper (wheels with
legs that have diameters of about 2-3/8). For compatible brands
there is a 2-3/8 pipe in which to hold and stabilize the
various counter options.

The Height of the fixed leg model is 18". The
adjustable leg model offers a choice of heights 19"-
26" in 1" Increments. Both Models give you the

and adults and can be tilted to help relieve lower back
strain. The tilt feature also helps to position your body
over the potter's wheel when throwing. The frame is painted

Seat
Sitting on a hard seat for
extended periods is very uncomfortable. The Gel Seat uses visco-elastic
gel and functional design to disperse pressure and greatly improve
your level of comfort. A center relieved groove eliminates soft
tissue pressure and suspends the tailbone (coccyx), which

Air Cushion
The air filled cushion is made of high density rubber. When placed
on a seat, pressure on the coccyx and lower hip is greatly reduced,
making for a high degree of comfort. As you lean forward, the air
cushion pivots with your body to improve the alignment of your spine
and your comfort. Both models are pre-inflated and ready to use.

Bailey
Wood Bats
The Bailey Bats are made of
the highest quality 3/4 thick baltic birch plywood. We
use wood because it has the distinct advantage of having significant
absorbency, much like plaster. This helps balance out the
drying time in the center of freshly thrown pottery. Unlike plaster,
Baltic Bats are lightweight and much more durable. Larger bats are
more rigid than plastic or masonite, so there is no problem with
distortion from flexing. Using the highest grade of baltic plywood
insures an indefinite utility life without concern of warping or
splintering. By comparison, plaster bats are not very durable, and
plastic has no absorbency. Every bat comes predrilled for our 10
pins. For material efficiency, each bat is approximately 1/4 less
than the listed diameter.

Grinding
Disks
An easy, economical way to smooth the bottoms of your
pots using a machine you already have - your wheel! 12 diameter
Silicon Carbide discs with a peel-off adhesive backing. Affix to
any 12 bat and attach to your wheelhead. All grinding is done
using the fastest wheel speed: a mask should be worn when
grinding. Available in 50-grit to remove material
fastest (including small glaze drips) and 80-grit for a
smooth finish. The discs can be used with or without water on the
grinding surface.
