Aftosa
Pottery Sealant
Water-based sealer for oil lamps. It is always best to make Oil Lamps out of
High-Fire clay (Cone 5-10) with a well-fitted gloss glaze- inside & out.
Even so, they are notorious for seeping oil through undetectable pin-holes
and cracks. Aftosa pottery sealant is designed to seal such
imperfections in the fired glaze surface that may allow oil to seep through.
Just pour into your lamp and roll to completely coat the interior, then pour
out the excess.You may also paint the outside bottom of the piece as well.
Allow the lamp to dry for at least 48 hours before filling with oil.
An extra step indeed, but well worth the confidence and peace of mind youll
gain from knowing your lamps wont leak.
Note: Aftosa pottery sealant is not considered safe
for food contact surfaces.
(Aftosa pottery sealant should not freeze and cannot be shipped during the
winter)
