Bailey Pottery is proud to offer kilns from Cress Manufacturing. Cress kilns are known for their excellent quality and wide selection of sizes and options. Most of Cress’ large kilns are available either as 1-piece or sectional units and with the choice of 2 1/2” or 3” brick walls. Unlike some other brands, all 3"- walled Cress kilns maintain their full chamber dimensions: the interior diameter is not reduced with the addition of the extra brick. A variety of control options are available. The chart below gives specifications on a selection of Cress’ ‘E-Series’ fully programmable kilns. ET27 One-Piece & ETS27 Sectional Kilns

Both the ET27 and ETS27 feature energy-saving 3” brick walls yet maintain their full-sized 23” diameter firing chamber. As with most Cress kilns, this model is available as either a 1-piece or sectional kiln. Kilns include large lifting handles, Insulated spy hole plugs, a heavy-duty steel kiln stand with a reflective heat shield for a cooler floor and a 2-position lid prop. All E-Series kilns are fully programmable, but manual versions are also available: call for more information.

ET2818 One-Piece & EST2818 Sectional Kilns

The ET2818 & EST2818 have 3” brick walls with a full-sized 28” diameter interior. Both are 18” deep for a 6.6 Cu. Ft. chamber that is extremely easy to load. The Counterweight is highly recommended to offset the weight of the lid. Fully programmable with all the other great features Cress is known for. Other 28” diameter Models are available in a 27” or 31” depth: call for info.

Counterweight

Cress E-Series kilns feature a fully programmable kiln controller with 6 User Programs that can be stored in memory for easily repeatable results. In addition, the Cress controller has 5 Cone-Fire programs including an extra-slow program (for bisque firing large, heavy ware) and an energy saving extra fast program.

Cress has developed a convenient counterweighted hinge system. There are no cables or pulleys: the entire counterweight is built into the kiln hinge & lid. Highly recommended on all 23” and 28” top-loading kilns for easier opening & closing.

Preheating and Drying options are also available. Standard units are Single-Zone but may be upgraded to 2- or 3-Zones (depending on the size of the kiln) upon request.

In addition, the counterweight helps support the lid when in the open position for safer loading & unloading.

*The New A8HB from Cress is perfect for testing clay & glazes or to fire small pieces when you can’t wait to fill your large kiln. The 3-Key Controller can be set up with either ConeFire or RampRate software: choose the option that best suits your needs. ConeFire uses pre-set firing schedules suitable for most standard ceramic applications. The user selects a Cone # and firing speed (slow, medium or fast) and the Controller takes care of the rest. RampRate is recommended for precise tests and specialized techniques such as crystalline glazes. The operator can create and save 4 User Programs with up to 8 segments in each. Each segment includes a ‘Ramp Rate’ (degrees per hr. increase or decrease), a ‘Target Temperature’ and an optional ‘Hold’ for control over every aspect of the firing.
